Making it Happen

bringing visions to life 2

We bring our own destinies to fruition. What do want most? What do you want to accomplish? No matter how dark things may seem, you can pull yourself out of it, and you can find hope. The thing is, hope is inside you. So is happiness. Searching for happiness is just as fruitless as chasing your own shadow. You’ll never catch it– because it’s already there.

I can only speak from my own perspective. I have been to hell and back. I could list everything I’ve been through, but it doesn’t really contribute to my point. The fact is, if you want something in your life– make it happen.

As I write this, I think back to the job I hated most, when it took every bit of will power I had just to drive to work. I was also getting severe pain attacks from my trigeminal neuralgia because of the lights in the building. There were numerous times in which I had to pull over because I was having a panic attack. Then, I would call out. I thought I would never escape that situation. I was so miserable I wrote a short story entitled, “How to Kill Yourself At Work.”

The point is, I’ve seen the bottom. And here’s how I crawled back up.

One day at a time. There is only so much we can do. Think about just this day, and do the next right thing for yourself.

Create Your Vision

I never thought I would be the sort of person to make a vision board. When I first heard about them, I thought, “Oh, here we go, more silly crap…like scrapbooking. Ugh.” (Sorry, scrapbookers. Now is a good time to note I actually own a few scrapbooks on history, so I ate my words there, as well.)

One day, for some reason, I had this odd compulsion, and without even thinking, I created a vision board about how much I wanted my own house. A year later, during the very same month, I had my own house.

Magic is just about focusing intent, aiming for a goal and making it happen. I made it happen.

Getting What You Most Desire

I have always wanted to work for myself. I started freelancing years ago, but I knew I eventually wanted to be my own boss. Make my own hours. Do what makes me happy, day in and day out.

Over the summer, work was scarce and I was getting worried. Instead of doubting myself, I said, “The work will come. The money will come.”

Then, I worked late into the night on a large vision board. I had that funny compulsion again, and it would not go away until each image was perfect, each letter exactly as it was meant to be. I wrote what was on that board with SERIOUS INTENT, intent that was so powerful it literally blew my mind. I went to bed exhausted. But determined. And full of a strange sort of tingling energy. My goal was to get more work, to attain clients I worked well with, to DO WHAT I LOVE every day.

That night, I had a dream, wherein a writer I knew (but hadn’t heard from in a few months) came to my door and talked to me about something. I couldn’t remember the conversation, but in the morning I awoke thinking, “Hmm, how odd.” Although I have had prophetic dreams numerous times, I didn’t think anything would come of this dream. I doubted very much he would contact me.

Not an hour later, he contacted me. He hired me for an editing job. And after that, every month, I had steady work.

VISION BOARD 2

You Don’t Have to Be Artsy to Make a Vision Board

There are no rules when it comes to creating a vision board. Let me mention my history books. Yes, those are the scrapbooks which I hate to call scrapbooks because I always said I would never own a scrapbook. They do not follow the rules of scrapbooking. There are very few cute little stickers, 3-D shapes, and trendy sayings. My scrapbooks have history articles in them, and photographs. My point is, don’t let the trendy idea of the vision board turn you off making a vision board.

The very act of physically pressing paper together, and physically penning special, intentional words, is pure magic. Literal, exacting magic. The idea is not to create a perfect work of art, but to use your intention to make something happen. The act of creating a vision board, or any similar piece of work, is focusing your intent onto a specific desire or need. Remember, no one ever has to see it. So, it doesn’t have to be perfect. And you can make it any way you want to.

Make it happen.

There is only one rule when it comes to making your dreams come true:

Harm none, and do what thou wilt. Use positive energy to bring your dreams to fruition.

Make it happen.

Create your vision, and bring it to life.
